The Australian Sidoarjo Assistance Project is a group of Australian and Indonesian volunteers committed to assisting victims of the Sidoarjo mudflow, lobbying for a long-term sustainable and fair solution, and promoting awareness of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
We are particularly concerned that many Australians are not aware of the disaster, despite involvement of an Australian company in the implicated Sidoarjo mining explorations. This website is thus also a space to discuss the Australian corporate sector more generally with regards to our ethical responsibility towards communities and the environment in international jurisdictions.
This website offers information about the mudflow, ASAP’s current projects, and Stories from Sidoarjo, a space to share stories about the mud-flow and where you can also leave your comments. Some of the stories that appear are taken from the publications of the the ASAP/Kanal translation project. Kanal is a monthly bulletin that gives voice to victims of the Sidoarjo mudflow disaster.
Please feel free to visit our forum, leave comments in our guestbook, or contact us with any queries/for information about how to become involved: helpsidoarjo@gmail.com.
